From Brookville Road to Brussels, Belgium! Congratulations to Montgomery County Government and its Brookville Smart Energy Bus Depot for winning the 2024 Pioneer Award for Mobility. This latest recognition comes from the Solar Impulse Foundation's international climate action award program. The County was recognized this week at a ceremony in Brussels. The Brookville depot is powered by a microgrid that delivers decarbonized, resilient energy to charge its fleet of electric buses. By 2035, the County’s entire fleet will be zero-emissions, with the depot's microgrid a key enabler. Huge congrats to Montgomery County Government for winning the APTA Innovation Award at this year’s TRANSform conference. The County’s award-winning project is its Brookville Smart Energy Depot, which is home to the largest bus depot microgrid in the nation, capable of powering 70 electric buses. AlphaStruxure designed, built, and is now operating and maintaining the Brookville microgrid for the County.

It’s fantastic to see Uzoamaka N. Okoye get recognition for the work she does as Chief of Staff at The New Terminal One at JFK. We get a front-row seat to see Uzo’s impact as we work with her and her team to deploy a microgrid at New Terminal One featuring the largest rooftop array in NYC. As she says, the New Terminal One and its microgrid will be “one of the defining projects of [her] life.” It’s one of the defining projects for AlphaStruxure, too. The largest rooftop solar arrays in NYC, ranked. This week, construction starts on the 12-megawatt microgrid at The New Terminal One at JFK featuring what will be the city’s largest rooftop solar array, equivalent to nearly 7 football fields. By blanketing the roof in solar, the microgrid puts NTO on track to meet city, state, and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey sustainability targets.
