  • A Day of Inspiration and Connection February 22nd was truly one for the books as we gathered together for the Youth Empowerment Story Summit (YESS), Black History Edition. We had the joy of teaming up with The Karat School Project to bring a burst of inspiration to local students during our Youth Empowerment Summit. Celebrating Black History Month has never felt more empowering! Our hearts are full of gratitude to the amazing speakers who shared not just their stories, but their spirit too. Each tale was a spark of motivation for our local youth, showing just how powerful their own stories can be as they strive toward college and beyond. The intimate mentorship circles post-lunch gave our students a rare chance to connect, ask questions, and start building their networks under the guidance of leaders who walk their talk every day. And yes, we did have some fun! The day wrapped up with an exciting round of Black History trivia, laughter echoing through the room. To every student who walked away with a new book and a head full of ideas, and to every family and friend who joined us, thank you for bringing your energy and curiosity. Let’s keep this momentum going! For anyone who missed out, don’t worry, there’s always next year. Stay tuned, stay inspired, and remember, we’re just a text away for the next big event.

  • Kicking Off the 2nd YLI Cohort Program! What an incredible start to this year's Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) Cohort! In partnership with Principal Terry Kawi , Aspire East Palo Alto Charter School, Rho Delta Omega Chapter members Jackie Welch and Phyllis Hamilton, and the Ivy & Pearls Foundation, we gave students a chance to dream big and envision their futures. The day began with students creating personal vision boards, opening up conversations about careers and opportunities they can pursue. A huge thank you to Senior Azana, an AKA undergraduate from the Xi Beta chapter, who shared her inspiring journey with the students. Azana, who is preparing to graduate from Stanford University with a degree in Physics, spoke about discovering her love for science in middle school and how that passion has guided her path. Her story encouraged students to dream big, work hard, and believe in their own potential. This cohort marks the beginning of a transformative journey. Over the next few months, students will develop leadership skills, engage in community service, and enjoy enriching field trips, culminating in their graduation in June 2025. Here’s to helping the next generation soar!
