This past week, ALPFA UW had the privilege of hosting a professional development session with RSM, where we dove deep into the topic of Imposter Syndrome and its impact on personal and professional growth. We covered some valuable insights, including what imposter syndrome is and how to overcome that self-doubt. A sincere thank you to Bryn Siegel Anita Sindelar, CPA and Cynthia Behnen CPA for leading this informative and impactful discussion. The session served as a powerful reminder that overcoming Imposter Syndrome is essential for fostering growth, both personally and professionally.

This past week, ALPFA UW and First Generation Business Leaders had the privilege of hosting a fireside chat with José Manuel Vasquez, founder and CEO of Growing Contigo. José shared his remarkable journey of overcoming cultural and socioeconomic barriers as a first-generation student and professional. He opened up about the challenges he faced and how these obstacles ultimately became powerful life lessons that shaped his success.?? The event featured a moderated Q&A ??, where José, alongside his colleague Daisy, offered invaluable insights on entrepreneurship, perseverance, and leadership. Together, they shared their experiences of navigating the unique hurdles of being first-generation professionals, building a successful business, and empowering communities along the way ??. This past Thursday ALPFA UW had the incredible opportunity to meet with KPMG for a session on the importance of building strong relationships and finding a sense of belonging, especially for those in underrepresented groups in the workplace. The conversation was both eye-opening and inspiring as we discussed how creating inclusive and supportive environments is crucial for personal and professional growth. We’re so grateful for this opportunity to learn from Brandon La, CPA and Lucia Arduino as they shared their experiences within the workforce. This past week, ALPFA UW had the opportunity to visit the Microsoft campus in Redmond, Washington, where students got to tour corporate buildings and network with professionals. In addition to a personal tour, members heard from Stephanie Ferguson and Gabriela Olmos-Hill about diversity, imposter syndrome, and life at Microsoft. A special thank you to Edward Dapello and Microsoft's SOMOS group for making this happen and creating such a unique opportunity.

This past week we had the honor of having professionals from Deloitte of Seattle come in and talk to our members. Thank you to Abigail Barr, Brandon Blas, and Taylor Cherry for sharing very insightful tips on how to create a good resume.
