关于我们

ALPA is a revival of ALPSA that was initially founded in 2019 in Afghanistan with a small, enthusiastic group that wanted a place for academics to meet and conversations about education to thrive. The second annual conference of ALPA was held at the American University of Afghanistan in January 2020, hosting over 120 participants from over 25 universities, think tanks, and international organizations. Registered in Virginia, ALPA is committed to holding annual conferences for Afghan law and political science professors and offer online courses for female students in Afghanistan. Today, an estimated 70 percent of Afghan law and political science professors are living in exile.

?? Honoring the Strength and Voices of Afghan Women ?? “For me, International Women’s Day is not a day to celebrate. It is a day that reminds me of everything that has been taken from me. But if one day history is rewritten, let it be written that we Afghan women fought in the dark, we shouted in silence, and even if the whole world forgot us, we kept hope alive in each other’s hearts.” – Anonymous Today, on International Women’s Day, we share the voices of Afghan women and girls—voices that have been silenced but refuse to disappear. These are the words of women denied education, stripped of opportunities, and forced into the shadows, yet still standing with unbreakable resilience. “I am a girl from Afghanistan. In a country that was once my home, now even breathing has become a crime. I used to search for my dreams in my books, but now my books gather dust on the shelves, and one by one, doors have been closed to me.” – Anonymous Their stories are not just about loss but also about resistance, courage, and the unwavering hope for a future where Afghan women are free to learn, to work, and to live without fear. “They took away our dreams, yet they still burn brightly in our hearts. They expelled us from universities and schools, but they cannot steal the light of knowledge from our minds. They barred us from work, but they cannot break our resolve.” – Anonymous ?? Their words have now been published. Read their powerful messages here: ?? [https://lnkd.in/emruAAVH] Let us not just celebrate today—let us listen, amplify, and stand with Afghan women every single day. Their voices deserve to be heard. Their fight must not be forgotten. #WomensDay #InternationalWomensDay #AfghanWomen #EducationForAll #WomenRights #LetAfghanGirlsLearn #WeStandWithAfghanWomen

  • Local Voices ?? The Girl Who Loved to Ride: A Dream Interrupted by Fatimah* Since childhood, I have been in love with riding bicycles. My father always supported me and bought me my first bicycle for my 4th birthday ??. My mother says that the day I was given my own bicycle, I learned to ride quickly and easily. But I fell many times and injured myself before I learned to ride well. I used to go to the store, school, and other places by bicycle. When I was 11 years old, I even started teaching my friends and classmates how to ride. That was a job I would have really loved to have. I put a lot of effort into motivating girls in my community to ride bicycles if they loved it and not to be afraid of anything ??. When the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, all of these activities crumbled into a dream that no longer exists. ?? I so wish that one day I could ride a bicycle again with my friends in the streets of our hometown. *Fatimah is a pseudonym. *ALPA's Local Voices highlights the stories of Afghan girls, shedding light on their struggles, hopes, and daily life under Taliban rule. #ALPA #LocalVoices #AfghanWomen

  • Dear Students ??! ALPA Publications' "Local Voices" remains committed to publishing and sharing your messages. For our next issue, we are seeking messages for International Women's Day. International Women's Day, a holiday that celebrates the achievements of women and the women's rights movement, has special importance for women in Afghanistan, who continue to struggle for their basic rights. In the past year, the Taliban government of Afghanistan has passed laws that even ban the sound of women's voices in public. Yet this year, once again, we witnessed Afghan women’s rights activists gathering in Albania, while at the same time, women and girls in Afghanistan continued to protest, pursue their education, and support one another. We want to hear your messages of struggle and hope as you reflect on the past year for Afghan women. What challenges are you facing? How do you find strength and resilience? What does International Women's Day mean to you? "Local Voices" will not publish your real name. You can choose a pseudonym to be featured with your message. Your messages may range from one sentence to a 200-word passage.Your messages and stories can be in English, Dari, or Pashto. Use the following link to submit your messages: https://lnkd.in/eS4HGfDr The deadline for submitting messages is March 1, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET.
