In a recent article from WWL in Louisiana, our own Steve Perrigo shed some light on which offices are being closed by the Social Security Administration (SSA): "Most of the offices that are closing are remote hearing sites where they would have remote disability hearings with an administrative law judge, which happens at the third level of the DI application process," he said. He went on to say, "For the most part those hearings have changed to almost completely video and phone, so a lot of Social Security space is no longer needed anymore cause they don't have to be in person for those hearings." March is Social Work Month, a time to recognize the dedicated professionals who provide critical support and advocacy for individuals and families facing challenges—including those living with disabilities. If you receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), you may have worked with a social worker at some point in your journey, whether for healthcare coordination, financial assistance or community resources. Social workers play an important role in improving quality of life, offering guidance in areas such as: - Accessing Disability Benefits – Social workers help individuals understand SSDI eligibility, gather medical evidence and connect with professional assistance for claims. - Coordinating Healthcare & Support Services – Many social workers assist with securing medical care, counseling services and adaptive resources that support long-term well-being. - Providing Emotional & Mental Health Support – Living with a disability can be overwhelming, and social workers offer advocacy, counseling and referrals to support groups. If you’ve had a social worker who made a difference in your life, Social Work Month is the perfect time to recognize and appreciate their contributions. Their efforts help countless individuals move forward with greater stability, independence and confidence. … Allsup is the first, the oldest and the most experienced SSDI assistance company in America. March is National Women's History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements of women throughout history. Allsup focuses on the unique challenges faced by women living with disabilities. As UN data shows, women are disproportionately affected by disability. It’s important to recognize how this impacts their daily lives. Here are some key challenges women with disabilities often face: - Employment Barriers: Women with disabilities may face difficulty finding and maintaining work due to accessibility issues, stigma or lack of support. - Healthcare Disparities: Women may encounter challenges accessing adequate healthcare, including reproductive health services, due to both gender and disability-related factors. - Social Isolation: Women with disabilities can experience higher rates of isolation, making it harder to build supportive networks. - Financial Security: Navigating financial independence while managing the costs of disability-related care can be overwhelming. Despite these challenges, women with disabilities continue to show incredible strength and resilience. This Women’s History Month let's celebrate their achievements and continue advocating for a more inclusive, supportive future for all women. … Allsup helps more claimants get approved at the application level than any other SSDI representative nationwide. March 10-16 is Brain Awareness Week, a time to shine a light on neurological disorders like epilepsy. Living with epilepsy can present unique challenges, especially in the workplace. Seizures can be unpredictable and managing them while trying to maintain a career can feel overwhelming at times. If you’re facing these challenges, here are some practical tips to help you through life with epilepsy while continuing to thrive in your job: - Know Your Rights: Learn about workplace accommodations that might help you manage epilepsy in the workplace. This could include adjusted work hours, the ability to take breaks when needed or a designated safe area in case of a seizure. - Communicate Openly with Your Employer: Be open with your employer about your condition (if you feel comfortable doing so). This allows for better understanding and potential accommodations. - Have a Seizure Action Plan: Keep a clear plan in place for what to do in the event of a seizure. Share this plan with trusted coworkers so they know how to help and when to call for assistance. - Manage Stress: Stress can be a trigger for seizures. Try relaxation techniques, such as meditation, breathing exercises or yoga to reduce stress at work and in your personal life. - Consider Flexible Work Options: If your job allows, discuss the possibility of remote work or flexible hours to help you manage your condition more comfortably. - Join Support Groups: Connect with others who have epilepsy. Online forums, local support groups and epilepsy-specific organizations can provide valuable resources, emotional support and advice on navigating work and life. Remember, you are not alone. There are resources and strategies to help you succeed both in the workplace and in life. Let’s continue the conversation and support one another during Brain Awareness Week and beyond. … Allsup is the first, the oldest and the most experienced SSDI assistance company in America.
