Allied Forces Foundation (AFF) is a British-American foundation that works to raise awareness and funding for wounded service personnel, veterans and their families, particularly those affected by the conflicts of Iraq and Afghanistan. A primary focus of AFF is to reinvigorate the spirit of comradeship and teamwork that so many wounded, ill and injured (WII) serving and veterans miss when forced to return to a desk job or civilian life. This is achieved through enabling participation in different challenges, both in the US and UK, including the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C. and the Cateran Yomp in Scotland. These challenges deliver an opportunity for WII to come together with other military and former military who are facing similar experiences. It enhances the US/UK relationship between WII personnel from both nations who fight together on the battlefield and the Yomp provides the chance to share stories and advice as they fight for recovery.

Check out Duke Speed, CPP, PMP who completed the Virtual Warrior Yomp Gold distance of 50 miles. See his "MapMyRun" from the 16th. He lost coverage on the 17th so he don't have a MapMyRun for those 25 miles on return leg. Duke did the hike "virtually" in Connecticut, he was honored to raise donations and participate for such a worthy cause. As a 20-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran (retired) of multiple international deployments, he could not say no to this great event. He hopes to participate in future AFF Warrior Yomp and other events. Meet Lawrence Brooks (aged 112), a proud member of Allied Forces Foundation, Inc and the oldest living WWIl veteran. Sir Lawrence is pictured here wearing a copy of his old summer uniform and holding his 91st Engineer Battalion badge - the picture was taken during a recent stay in a New Orleans East Hospital (NOEH). Brooks, the son of Louisiana farmers and one of 15 children, was born in 1909, just north of Baton Rouge in Norwood. He grew up outside of Stephenson, Mississippi, a small sawmill town where his family moved to work during the depression. "Nomatter what life has taught me, I just want to be remembered as a good soldier". said Lawrence Brooks. LinkedIn, please let's celebrate this big personality. He's indeed a champion??????

WARRIOR YOMP 2024 GOLD Medal and Finish line 50 miles at Gravelly Point as the sun rises after most have taken 18-20 hours, but some took 14 hours to finish first.
