Short Biography: With a passion for flying from a young age, she earned her pilot’s license and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a trailblazer in a traditionally male dominated industry. Beyond the cockpit, Zoe is a mentor and advocate for aspiring female pilots, working to increase diversity in aviation through initiatives like The Female Aviators Stick Together (FAST) Network. She is also the author of 'Ada and Emily: Take It to the Skies', a children's book designed to inspire young girls to pursue careers in aviation. Through the adventures of two young heroines, Zoe shares the magic of flight and encourages the next generation to dream big and reach for the skies. On March 12th, an active shooting incident occurred at ORD International Airport. Thankfully, none of our AGI agents were injured. However, in moments of crisis, true leadership shines. We want to recognize and applaud AGI Passenger Service Agent, Nijole Stefanski, for her courageous and selfless actions. Upon learning of the situation, she quickly responded by opening the storage door in the BSO office to provide a safe refuge for any passengers seeking shelter. This week, for Women’s History Month, we proudly recognize La’Shonda Holmes. While overcoming personal hardships, she persevered and became a role model for upcoming women in aviation. Short Biography: La’Shanda Holmes made history in 2010 as the U.S. Coast Guard’s first Black female helicopter pilot. Her journey began with overcoming adversity, having grown up in the foster care system, but her determination led her to excel in the Coast Guard’s College Student Pre-Commissioning Initiative (CSPI). After earning her wings, Holmes flew MH-65 Dolphin helicopters on critical search and rescue missions, law enforcement operations, and disaster relief efforts. She later served as a White House Liaison Officer, further demonstrating her leadership and dedication to public service. Throughout her career, she has mentored aspiring pilots and advocated for diversity in aviation. La’Shanda’s story is a testament to breaking barriers and soaring to new heights in aviation. She is an inspiration for aspiring aviators with her leadership and determination that serve as a powerful reminder that women can rise to any challenge, defy expectations, and pave the way for future generations! #WomenInAviation #WeAreAGI #AGI
