What a great event today! Our second year of EmpowerHer brought together panelists Kelsey Unser, Meghin Lombardi, and Maddie Frank, MBA with Meaghan Ziemba as our host to share their experience and advice for girls investigating a career in engineering and manufacturing. Josie Smyser introduced the event as this was the focus of her Gold Award project for Girl Scouts of North East Ohio. Our participants here at the AWT Transformation Center enjoyed the presentation and a STEM activity requiring creative thinking and a lot of ingenuity. Our own Alyson Scott shared some inspiration from the work of Jane Gosiger Haley and her personal journey as a leader in manufacturing. Thank you SME for your partnership!
Yesterday’s STEM externship at Swagelok offered K-8 teachers a fun way to teach the foundational concepts of binary code. The workshop engaged participants with a hands-on activity to bring into their classrooms and equipped them with knowledge to teach binary basics, computational thinking and coding concepts to different grade levels with different learning objectives. We enjoyed the informative presentation, connecting with teachers across school systems, and visiting our partner, Swagelok.
