This past Saturday, we hosted a thought-provoking X Space with our incredible partners Ajambo Mary and Prudence Mbaura M, representing Motherly Heart and Mukadzi Munhuwo. The discussion explored the profound impact of climate change on girls' and women’s rights, including education, bodily autonomy, and economic and political participation. Key takeaways from the conversation: ? Education as a Climate Solution. Mary emphasized that investing in girls' education is critical for climate resilience. She highlighted the need for climate-resilient infrastructure to ensure students access and complete their primary and secondary education. ? Strengthening Protection & Economic Empowerment – Prudence Mbaura underscored the importance of collaborating with law enforcement to safeguard women from gender-based violence (GBV). She also stressed that economic empowerment is key. Pairing GBV prevention with climate-smart agriculture can enhance women’s safety and economic stability in the face of climate challenges. Our discussion reinforced that climate adaptation and mitigation must be multisectoral and gender-responsive to truly create lasting change. Missed the conversation?
