Tomorrow is #NationalRuralHealthDay! AIM celebrates the innovative approaches rural hospitals and other care settings take to safely care for pregnant and postpartum people in their communities. As access to obstetric care continues to decline in rural and underserved communities, tools like AIM’s Obstetric Emergency Readiness Resource Kit can help aid in readiness efforts to appropriately recognize and respond for pregnant in postpartum people presenting for care in non-obstetric or resource limited settings. 关于我们
The Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) is a national data-driven maternal safety and quality improvement initiative. Based on proven safety and quality implementation strategies, AIM works to reduce preventable maternal mortality and severe morbidity across the United States. AIM works through state and jurisdiction-based teams to align national, state, and hospital-level quality improvement efforts to improve overall maternal health outcomes. Any hospital in a participating AIM state may join the growing and engaged AIM community of multidisciplinary healthcare providers, public health professionals, and cross-sector stakeholders who are committed to improving maternal outcomes in the U.S. The AIM Program is made possible through funding by a cooperative agreement between the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau (HRSA-MCHB) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). In Washington, mental health conditions, including suicide and overdose, were the cause of over a third of pregnancy-related deaths. To address this, the Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA) and the Department of Health began the implementation of the AIM Opioid Use Disorder Patient Safety Bundle. Between April 2022 and December 2022, the percentage of facilities that had a unit standard policy and procedure to universally screen every person giving birth for substance use disorder using a validated verbal screening tool increased from 30% to 50%. Washington continues to work with participating facilities to support the implementation of best practices as part of quality improvement. To learn more about how implementation of this bundle can support improved quality of care, read the full impact statement here: https://bit.ly/3A8YerC #AIMState #MaternalHealth #MaternalHealthMatters #MaternalHealthEquity #HealthcareQuality #AIMForChange #AIMForSaferBirth #ACOG2024
