#DYK our Health Policy Academy has been around for 30+ years? Formerly known as the Congressional Staff Retreat, this full-day bootcamp-style event is a rare bipartisan space where Hill and agency staff can learn, ask candid questions, and build cross-party relationships that support effective policymaking. Let’s take a peek at past health policy milestones that dominated the last three decades: ?? 1990s: We saw significant health policy changes with Medicaid expansion, attempts at health care reform, HIPAA implementation, and state-level reforms. ?? 2000s: Medicare expansion with prescription drug benefit, the growth of community health centers, introduction of Health Savings Accounts, and an increased focus on access to prescription drugs for the elderly. ?? 2010s: The Affordable Care Act commanded health policy, along with the rise of Medicare Advantage plans, a shift toward value-based payments, healthcare consolidations, and an emphasis on health promotion and prevention. ?? 2020s: Attend our Health Policy Academy on April 10th to learn what we’ve learned from previous years and how it relates to current issues facing health policymakers. Hear from experts with diverse points of view who were instrumental in driving, interpreting, implementing, and changing landmark health legislation over the past 30 years. Join the generations who have come before you. This event is free and open exclusively to congressional and federal agency staff. Space is limited, register today! ?? https://lnkd.in/g_MSrJmW Special thanks to our sponsors at The Catholic Health Association of the United States, Elevance Health, and the Association for Accessible Medicines.

What does the #RareDisease policy ecosystem really look like? We heard from our policymaker community that they’d like a resource to help them sort it out. So, as part of our Signature Seminars on Rare Disease last year, we convened a group of stakeholders from across the field to co-create an expert-led stakeholder map. During this collaborative workshop, we invited participants to brainstorm, discuss, and categorize organizations shaping rare disease policy. The result? A first-of-its-kind illustrated map outlining 80+ key stakeholder groups across 12 categories, from patient voices to policymakers, payers, developers, and beyond. This resource is a helpful tool for anyone looking to understand how rare disease policy is shaped, who the key players are, and where opportunities for collaboration exist. ?? While not exhaustive, it’s a solid foundation for anyone seeking to engage in this critical space. Be inspired this #RareDiseaseDay and explore our illustrated stakeholder map to see the many voices driving rare disease policy: ?? https://lnkd.in/gMrT5szW

1 in 10 Americans live with a #RareDisease. For too many, the path to diagnosis and treatment is long and uncertain, without any available treatments. Innovations like rapid diagnosis, personalized medicine, and gene therapies are transforming possibilities for rare disease patients. ?? But they also raise questions for health policymakers, like how can we meet these needs in a sustainable way? Here at the Alliance, we believe in the power of well-informed policymakers to advance the conversation in rare disease. ??? Last year, we gathered experts across sectors—patients, providers, payors, researchers, and policymakers—for our Signature Seminars on Rare Disease. First, we listened, gathering insights from our in-the-know Alliance policy community. Next, we convened a group of stakeholders from across the field and together we mapped challenges, identified key stakeholders, and shaped a roadmap for future education for health policymakers. This #RareDiseaseMonth, check out findings from our outcomes report “What’s Next in Rare Disease?” and see how we’re bringing nonpartisan, stakeholder-driven education to the health policy community: ?? https://lnkd.in/dqZ_R5CF

Whether you're a Boomer, Gen X, Millennial, or Gen Z, aging impacts us all. With Americans living longer and those aged 65+ expected to make up nearly 25% of the population by 2050, we recognize the critical importance of aging policy. Which is why we recently released an insights report informed by expert perspectives that dives into the key challenges and opportunities surrounding aging health policy in America. A few major takeaways: ? Millions of older Americans rely on federal programs facing funding challenges. ? Aging policy covers so much more than just the health care costs we often discuss. ? Policymakers need better education on aging policy. These insights will guide our 2025 Signature Series, exploring a foundational framework to address the aging health needs of our nation. Prepare to join us for a range of fascinating discussions on equipping our system for an aging population, optimizing senior care, and the role of health policy in addressing these needs.
