To put the importance of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards program into perspective: More than 89.5 million people live or work within two miles of a high-risk site, and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency has not conducted terrorist vetting for an estimated 118,000 personnel who have recently gained and/or are seeking access to restricted areas or critical assets of chemical facilities. That’s 9,000 names—each month—going unvetted against the Terrorist Screening Database. Read more below.

On September 8, the Alliance for Hope team joined the Susan G. Komen MORE THAN PINK Walk, raising an incredible $14,873.18 (and counting!) for breast cancer research and support. A big thank you to everyone who participated and donated — the ACD community showed up in full force, and the day was filled with beautiful weather, camaraderie, and purpose. Our very own, Lucinda Schofer, observes her fifth year as a breast cancer survivor this year. Lucinda recently wrote about her experience of going through cancer treatment on the ACD Responsible Reflections blog. She remarked on the importance of support from family, friends, and her ACD team and how essential it was for her survival. What Lucinda may not recognize was the hopeful willingness to help from her supporters stemmed from years of backlogged solace, encouragement, time, and heart that our COO seems to naturally exude. It was an honor to come together as a team and walk with her. Still, the fight isn’t over! We’re continuing to fundraise through October 6. Every dollar helps in the battle against breast cancer.
