You’ll hear more (much more) from me on #California and its Advanced Clean Cars II program in the coming weeks... Here’s what to know: California sets its own vehicle emissions standards that are different from the rules coming out of Washington, DC. 11 states have signed up for the California program. #NewYork is one of them. California and those 11 states require automakers to sell a specific (and increasing) percentage of zero emission vehicles starting in model year 2026 – essentially next year – through 2035 when *?????? ??????????????* of new vehicles sales must be zero emission. Yes, 100 percent. Here’s what I told MotorTrend Group’s Miguel Cortina for his new documentary on #electricvehicles: “In 2025, those ‘California’ states have to be well over 25 percent of the market. The state of New York is less than 10 percent today. A miracle would have to happen in order for them to just get to where they need to be in 2026. They'd have to be at 100 percent in 2035. I'm not sure we can get to 50 to 60 percent by 2031. Getting to 100 percent by 2035? California maybe. The rest of those states? No idea...” More to come. Watch here: https://bit.ly/3V5GPap
