Let's be frank —?across the nation and even here in California, the election results are an undeniable setback in our work to secure housing and economic justice for people with extremely low incomes in the Bay Area. Prop 5, the critical measure that would make it easier for voters to fund affordable housing, is failing. Prop 36, which would increase jail-time for low-level crimes and take resources away from mental health and drug treatment programs, passed by a wide margin. We are deeply disturbed that Californians did not even vote to end the forced labor of people in prison, rejecting Prop 6. These results are an affront to people across California who have been discriminated against and marginalized for far too long. A second Trump Administration presents a direct threat to the lives and safety of the people we serve and advocate alongside: those experiencing homelessness or struggling to stay in their homes, BIPOC communities, trans and queer youth, immigrants, refugees, and undocumented people. At this moment, we're taking time to feel the gravity of this moment and connecting with what we love, and we hope you can too. We're remembering that resistance and defense are skills we have learned over years of advocacy—we have been here before and pushed forward, and we will do it again. We will advocate for a better world no matter who is in power. At All Home, we remain committed to a future where all people know the dignity of home and have the resources to thrive.

Did you know you don't need a home to vote in California? People experiencing homelessness are consistently one of the most poorly represented blocks when it comes to voter turnout, historically having faced numerous barriers across the country which have limited their participation in the election process. With two more days left to cast a vote, help spread the word so folks know they have the power to cast their vote, regardless of their housing status. Check out the images from National Coalition for the Homeless for more details.

“Housing has made everything for me change. I’m so grateful for my affordable home, which is a source of peace, safety, comfort, and a stepping stone for my next chapter.” For Solomon, his home with Episcopal Community Services of San Francisco more than just shelter—it’s a place of healing, stability, and growth. This election season, we’re supporting Prop 5 to make the comforts of home a reality for more Californians. Prop 5 will give our communities the power to build supportive housing for people like Solomon who are experiencing homelessness. Learn more at YesOnCAProp5.org

“Affordable housing is not just a place to stay—it’s a chance to reclaim your life and connect with the community around you.” ??? Maria’s journey from homelessness to hope began with a phone call to St. Mary's Center. Now, she has her own affordable home. Her story shows us the affordable future that is within reach. When we invest in these solutions, we create opportunities for more people to find not just shelter but community. ?? That’s why we’re saying YES on Prop 5, the ballot measure that will give people more power to address our needs by investing in the solutions we know work, like affordable housing.

As homelessness policy orgs in CA, with deep commitments to ending homelessness, we're saying NO to #Prop36 ?? - it relies on failed strategies that won't improve public safety and could make homelessness worse. Must read report on the benefits of Prop 5!
*Now Available: Economic Analysis on the Benefits of Proposition 5* Economic & Planning Systems, Inc. helped us evaluate the benefits that would accrue to California communities if voters approve Prop 5 on November 5th. “Pescadero has hardworking people, people who make an effort every day to get ahead. And who need to have a home and a decent place to live.” Together with Puente de la Costa Sur, Maria is advocating for affordable homes for immigrant farmworkers. For decades, she and her family depended on employer-provided housing, so when her husband lost his job, they were left without a place to live. It’s time to invest in affordable housing solutions that empower our farmworker families to live and grow with stability. That’s why we’re saying YES to Prop 5, the ballot measure that will make it easier for us to create affordable housing. Learn more at YesOnCAProp5.org.

Last night we gathered at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland for the Bay Area Premiere of Beyond the Bridge — a documentary focused on the solutions to homelessness. The A Better Vision Films crew drove over 40,000 miles to visit 12 cities and dozens of service providers, those with lived experience and policy makers in search for answers. What they found is clear: in order to solve homelessness, we must work in deep coordination to ensure everyone has a safe place to call home and the support they need to thrive. Thank you to everyone who joined us to watch this powerful film and hear from local leaders on what it will take here in the Bay Area.

Housing is on the ballot this November! Here at All Home, we're saying YES ON PROP 5 so we can build safe communities we can afford to live in. What will it do? Prop 5 gives us more tools to make housing more affordable for the millions of Californians struggling with high housing costs, including building supportive housing for people experiencing homelessness. How does it work? Prop 5 gives voters more power to address local housing and public infrastructure needs by reducing the voter majority required to pass local bonds for housing and infrastructure projects from ? to 55%- the same as school bonds.
