We’re excited to welcome Steven Kunkel to AGC as a Project Manager! Steven brings a decade of experience in the construction industry, working as both a Subcontractor and General Contractor. His background spans tenant improvements to large podium deck projects, where he has taken on roles as a Project Engineer, Assistant Superintendent, and Project Manager. His hands-on field experience, strong communication skills, and ability to build lasting relationships with subcontractors and clients make him a valuable addition to our team. When he’s not leading projects on-site, Steven enjoys hiking and golfing—always up for a challenge, both on and off the course. It was a perfect day for a site walk. We concentrated on Parcel 2, one of the four buildings in the dynamic Cuatro development, located in the vibrant community of City Heights. Over the past few weeks since mid-January, our team has been busy working on underground utilities, structural steel, framing, lath and plaster, and drywall. Team AGC’s video crew met with our on-site managers to walk through each parcel for a firsthand look at what’s being done from start to finish. Transforming Lives Through Affordable Housing and Community Partnerships At AGC, we are celebrating Grant Allgire's 5th year as CEO by reflecting on the growth and stability of our community and partnerships. One such impactful collaboration is with Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation, a nonprofit affordable housing developer. Wakeland's mission is to provide high-quality, affordable housing paired with transformative services. "Our partnership with Wakeland is extremely important to Allgire General Contractors," says Grant Allgire. "We cannot do what we do if we don't have partners such as Wakeland...there's a lot that goes into these projects before the shovel ever hits the ground and the partnership with Wakeland has been a unique one. We’re putting the spotlight on our newest addition to the AGC team: Neil El-Assal! We’re proud to welcome Neil to the AGC team as an Estimator! A San Diego native with 30+ years in the construction industry, Neil has spent the last 25 years working with the same electrical contractor—many of those years collaborating with AGC on projects like Autumn Terrace, Trinity Place, Hotel Churchill, and San Diego Square. Neil’s attention to detail, cost management expertise, and commitment to delivering quality results make him a strong addition to our team. His ability to balance budgets, timelines, and project complexities ensures the highest standards across every development. When he’s not working, you’ll find Neil at Padres games or on the move—literally.
