Reuse, repurpose, and donate. Healthy Eating, Simply: In today's world, groceries can be expensive, but adding healthy, reasonably priced veggies to your diet is an easy way to boost your health. ?? Add spinach or kale to your smoothie. ?? Layer fresh greens into your salads or bowls. ?? Try grains like quinoa, farro, or barley. ?? Toss spinach into your morning eggs. ?? Snack on cucumber, bell pepper, or celery. Let’s make sustainable and healthy choices every day. As the vibrant colors of spring emerge, it's a timely reminder of the importance of nourishing our bodies with fresh fruits and vegetables. Incorporating at least five portions of these nutrient-rich foods daily can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent certain types of cancer, and improve digestive health.???? However, millions still face food insecurity, lacking access to sufficient nutritious food. In 2023, 13.5% of U.S. households were food insecure, affecting approximately 18 million households. At the Allgire Foundation, we believe access to fresh, healthy food shouldn’t be a privilege—it should be a right. That’s why every year, our Spring Harvest event brings together our teams and volunteers to deliver fresh fruits and vegetables to affordable housing communities in San Diego, ensuring families have the nutrition they need to thrive.
