Alleghany Health has expanded access to 3D Mammography with the recent addition of a new GE Pristina mammography machine. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held January 14 in the radiology department. 3D mammography is a major advance for Alleghany County and will reduce the need for patients to go off the mountain to obtain this service. 3D imaging detects 40% more cancers than 2D and significantly reduces the need for patients to return for additional testing. Jane Williams was first patient to get a 3D Mammogram after the ribbon cutting. For a mammogram appointment, call 336-372-5511.
