Our education program, We Share Solar, is expanding its decade-long partnership with Rutgers University - Newark, launching a new program in New Jersey that will train and equip five schools in the Newark and Orange School Districts and the Rutgers University – Newark campus to bring hands-on solar education to hundreds of students each year. Through this program, science teachers will receive professional development training, access to curriculum, and a set of Solar Suitcase equipment for their classrooms. These resources will enable students to explore clean energy solutions and become “Solar Solutionaries” ready to impact their communities. In our first workshop, passionate educators came together to develop tailored projects that meet the unique needs of their students focused on creativity, collaboration, and real-world impact. ???? ?? From brainstorming innovative ideas to refining project drafts with peer feedback, they’ve already made strides in creating engaging, inclusive learning experiences. ?? Through a generous donation from the All Points North Foundation, GRID Alternatives National Tribal Program helped bring 138KW of solar to the Pueblo of Santa Ana Tamaya Wellness Center. With a grant provided by All Points North Foundation, Remote Energy worked with a team of experts to develop solar PV curriculum videos to promote interest and career development in the solar energy (PV) industry among Native American communities. The videos discuss the benefits of solar and its applications and different system types.?The project goal is to reach a wide Native American audience by having Native language speakers narrate the videos. Solar experts Gail Hubbeling is teaching in Dakota, @Alberta Yazzie is teaching in Navajo, and @Chris French is teaching in English. By showcasing Indigenous success stories in the solar energy field, we aim to inspire and encourage the next generation to pursue careers in this vital field. While the solar industry continues to evolve, it is essential for there to be an equitable path, inclusive space, and diverse workforce. Representation truly makes a difference as it inspires students, impacts communities, and provides an attainable career path/educational journey for youth. Everyone deserves access to a high-quality solar education, and we have the ability to do just that. When one sees a powerful teacher, someone who looks like you, it plants the seed and possibility of a similar future. All Points North Foundation is #ALLinforYOUTH! Thanks to a $75K grant, 400 more Memphis-area middle school students will have access to CISM's programming, including Integrated Student Support, College & Career Readiness, Care Coordination, and Youth Homeless Systems Navigation. This initiative will address chronic absenteeism and empower students to overcome barriers, stay in school, and pursue their post-secondary goals. CISM will also train new middle school teachers on building developmental relationships. We are so grateful for this opportunity to deepen our impact in the community. Solar Schoolhouse Program Lets the Sun Shine In through Outdoor Education Thanks to a grant from All Points North Foundation , Solar Schoolhouse materials and training are now available to California Outdoor Education Schools at no cost for the 2024-25 school year.?? ? Solar Schoolhouse, a program of The Rahus Institute, has worked with the Outdoor Education community since 2003. The students in Ms. Strubhar’s 8th grade STEM class are getting creative by coding through the computer science program offered by Hello World programming.
