Yet it is surely remarkable that the courts found it more fitting to ban Marine Le Pen from the political process than to incarcerate her. A cynical person would be inclined to believe this was the Fench globalists looking to kneecap the leading French nationalist in hopes of forestalling the rise of French nationalism. Germany’s Debt Splurge Raises Rates Across Europe As was to be expected, Germany’s newfound interest in debt financing is pushing interest rates up not just for Germany, but for the whole of Europe. https://archive.ph/1vDj1 Rates are the inverse of prices for debt instruments. A higher rate/yield is a lower price. Germany is putting a quantity of new debt on the market, and that pushes down the price debt can command—and so interest rates rise. Core Inflation Rose While one month’s data does not count as a trend, this is a far cry from the strong cooling signal we saw with the BLS Consumer Price Index data, and if the BEA data is the trend going forward, this mixture of rising and falling inflation rates could signify the start of a stagflationary recession scenario within consumer prices overall. Stocks Tank As Tariffs Loom Unsurprisingly, Wall Street opened in the negative as Trump’s tariffs loom large, with “liberation day” being tomorrow. Surprisingly, the negative opening for equities is not matched by a surge in bond yields. The concern among equities is not producing a similar angst for Treasuries—which suggests that Wall Street does not see the financial future of the US hanging in the balance. Corporate media is going to freak about a nose-dive in stocks, because that is what they do. However, we should not lose sight of the reality that Wall Street is facing a long-term downward trend no matter what unless the Fed is willing to restart rampant money printing (which Jay Powell has shown no inclination of doing). https://lnkd.in/g7dbXjbJ

The Battle Begins President Trump’s Solicitor General filed an application with the Supreme Court asking the Court to stay Judge Boasberg’s orders vis-a-vis the Alien Enemies Act. https://lnkd.in/gSfV_Sxj The Supreme Court is being asked to rule whether Judge Boasberg has the legal authority to enjoin the executive branch from wielding executive authority. I believe Boasberg’s TRO and subsequent orders are a prime example of judicial overreach. Missippi v Johnson and Ludecke v Watkins make clear that the Alien Enemies Act is not subject to judicial review, although every act of the President is subject to Congressional review. Not even the arch-libertarians among the Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, opposed the Alien Enemies Act. Madison gave his reasoning in his report on the Virginia Resolution of 1798. The Return Of Stagflation? Neither tariffs and stagflation nor tariffs and inflation are likely to turn out well for the economy or for President Trump’s agenda. However, tariffs and either stagflation or inflation are very likely what we are about get, and very soon.

Goldberg Doesn’t Get It. Trump Team Doesn’t Take HIM Seriously Jeffrey Goldberg is failing to grasp a key aspect of Trump 2.0: The Trump Administration does not give one tinker’s damn what the “elites” in the media think. Donald Trump does not care what Jeffrey Goldberg thinks of him. Donald Trump does not care what Jeffrey Goldberg says. Donalt Trump is going to show contempt and disdain for the corporate media at every turn. Nothing they say is going to put him or his people on the defensive. There will be no backing down, there will be no apologetics, there will be no crawfishing. Because they do not care. The Trump Team is going to bulldoze there way through to their agenda goals no matter what. Most of all the Trump Team is going to smash the Deep State bureaucracy and incestuous linkages between corporate media and the that bureaucracy. Doing damage is the point. Leaving maximum wreckage is the point. Corporate media’s power over politicians has always stemmed from their ability to manipulate the status quo. The Trump Team means to end the status quo, and that is what inoculates them from corporate media’s tactics. Why Not Just Cancel The WHCA? The White House Correspondents Association decided not to have another pathetic virtue-signalling unfunny “comedian” at their annual gala event, and have cancelled Amber Ruffin’s scheduled appearance. They should take the concept to the next level and self-cancel. The White House Correspondents Association has been corporate media’s monopolization of access to journalists wishing to cover the White House and Presidential Administrations. They arrogated to themselves to decide who would be “allowed” in to the press briefing room, and used that undemocratically seized power to exclude independent journalists at every turn. The organization has no merit and no reason to exist. Don’t just cancel Amber Ruffin’s appearance at the gala. Cancel the gala, and cancel the organization.
