Senator Angela Alsobrooks is the first Black woman to be elected to represent Maryland in the U.S. Senate. As part of her policy platform in 2024, Sen. Alsobrooks stated her unwavering commitment to reproductive freedom for all Americans and expanding abortion access for Black and Brown communities. During her campaign for Senate, Sen. Alsobrooks committed to cosigning the Women’s Health Protection Act which would prohibit governmental restrictions in access to abortion services and ensure reproductive freedom for all birthing people in America because she believes that medical decisions should be made between an individual and their doctor without government interference. Sen. Alsobrooks stated she would not support any judicial nominee who opposes abortion rights and supported a 2024 referendum codifying the right to reproductive care into the Constitution of Maryland, which later passed. Thank you Senator Alsobrooks for defending our right to #reproductivefreedom!

Abortion justice is a racial and economic justice issue. As attacks on reproductive rights escalate, we must think creatively, push forward, and fight back against harmful policies that criminalize abortion access. This is about more than just laws—it’s about dignity, equity, and building safer communities where everyone can access the healthcare they need without fear. "It is our collective responsibility to build safer communities where everyone can access healthcare with dignity." – Lexi White, Director of State Strategies, All* Above All Read more in Glamour and explore our #AbortionJustice Playbook to learn how we can take action together: bit.ly/aj-playbook??? #ReproductiveJustice #HealthEquity #HumanRights #BodilyAutonomy #AbortionIsHealthcare #SocialJustice

As a Pennsylvania state lawmaker, Speaker Joanna McClinton has made history many times: in 2018 when she became the first woman and first Black person to be elected as House Democratic Caucus Chair, then again in 2020 when she was the first woman elected House Democratic Leader. In 2023, McClinton was elected Speaker of the Pennsylvania House, the first woman to serve in that position in the institution’s 244-year history, the oldest legislature in the nation. In 2023 Speaker McClinton led the charge in passing legislation to protect women seeking abortion care in Pennsylvania from being criminally penalized by other states. A member of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, Speaker McClinton is also advocating for a suite of bills (MOMNIBUS) to improve healthcare for pregnant people, including expanding Medical Assistance programs to cover home blood pressure monitors and extending Medicaid coverage to doula services. These actions along with many others, such as making screening for breast cancer free in Pennsylvania, are life-saving pieces of legislation that demonstrate Speaker McClinton’s commitment to reproductive justice and healthy families. Thank you Speaker Joanna McClinton for your work to protect abortion patients and providers, and the right of all birthing people to determine their own reproductive future. #WomensHistoryMonth

Mayor Michelle Wu is the first woman and first person of color to have been elected mayor of Boston. A champion of reproductive justice, Mayor Wu has the track record of fighting and winning for all Bostonians. During her time in office she has passed ordinances for paid parental leave, expanded leave for pregnancy loss, guaranteed insurance coverage for transgender workers, and ensured LGBTQ+ inclusive sex education for young people. Mayor Wu shared that one of her two miscarriages necessitated her taking abortion medication Mifepristone and Misoprostol to aid her body in removing the fetal remains. She believes politicians should not be part of the discussion about medical care, but that it is between a patient and their doctor, and that it is up to each and every family to determine if and when they become parents. Thank you, Mayor Michelle Wu for advocating for reproductive rights and passing legislation to protect the most vulnerable communities. #WomensHistoryMonth

We cosponsored Vanessa Priya Daniel's UNRIG THE GAME book signing and discussion on Tuesday, and our own Dep Director of State Strategies Kaylan Tanner was able to attend. We had an incredible conversation about women of color in leadership, featuring 45 different women on their experiences and the resources needed to support them. Here at All* we are feeling energized after the discussion and grateful to have connected with co-host Gloria Walton, who is also featured in this amazing and insightful book.

Former U.S. House Representative Barbara Lee has been a vocal champion and singular force for reproductive freedom for decades as both an advocate and legislator. During her time in Congress, Rep. Lee boldly shared her own abortion story on the House floor, one of the first members of Congress to do so. Rep. Lee co-chaired the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus, led the charge to try and pass the EACH Act, which would end the discriminatory Hyde Amendment, and served as lead co-sponsor of the HER Act, which would permanently end the global gag rule. Thank you, Rep. Lee, for your decades of service to the #ReproductiveJustice Movement!

U.S. House Representative Ayanna Pressley, a long-time advocate for reproductive justice, is co-chair of the Abortion Access Task Force as well as the Reproductive Freedom Caucus for 119th Congress. She has championed legislation to protect and restore access to abortion care nationwide, including the EACH Act, which would eliminate the Hyde Amendment and related abortion-coverage restrictions. Rep. Pressley has proven her commitment to abortion care as an essential human right and has organized, legislated, and pushed back against the cruel attempts to tear away bodily autonomy and necessary healthcare from people nationwide. Rep. Pressley has also successfully expanded access to abortion medications and birth control and worked closely with the former Secretary of Health and Human services to use every tool available to protect families and abortion-care providers. Rep. Pressley believes everyone in this nation should have access to the care they need, and we couldn’t agree with her more. Thank you, Rep. Pressley, for your unwavering commitment to #abortionjustice for all.
