For more than 50 years, ALIVE! has provided food, transitional shelter, emergency financial support, and donated furniture & housewares for our Alexandria neighbors most in need. ALIVE! is looking to hire a full time Service Navigator to work at one of the Food Hubs. This position is responsible for managing the client experience at the ALIVE! Food Hubs, ensuring consistent operating hours, coordinating with community partners to schedule programming for clients, managing and training volunteers working at the Food Hub, coordinating with operations team to ensure foods are appropriately stocked, and more! Thank you to the Alexandria Gazette for highlighting the new renovation of ALIVE! House. Through our partnership with HomeAid National Capital Region and Richmond American Homes repairs and updates were made to better serve the families who will stay at ALIVE! House. The first floor was reconfigured to include a new residential apartment as well as staff office space, a resident common area, a half bath for staff, and additional storage space. The second and third floors were also renovated into two separate residential units with new kitchen cabinets, new appliances, updated bathroom, and new flooring. ALIVE! House provides up to 24 months of temporary housing and support for women and their families in transitional situations. We assist our residents in achieving their goals of housing and stability. Thank you! ALIVE! collected more than 30,000 pounds of food donations in July. We just wrapped up Volunteer Alexandria's Food4ALX July food drive and we exceeded our goal of collecting 30,000 pounds of donations. Thank you to everyone who supported this annual food drive by hosting a collection box, donating items, sponsoring the event, contributing financially, or volunteering to collect items, and spreading the word. Together we collected more than 35,000 pounds food for our Alexandria neighbors in need.

Thank you to Kelly Thomasson, Executive Director of the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation, for inviting ALIVE!'s Development Director, Michelle Lockwood, to join today's luncheon and roundtable in Richmond and for providing a grant to support the Del Ray Food Hub and West End Food Hub in Alexandria. ALIVE!'s food hubs provide Alexandrians in need with essential groceries and the ability to choose these items in a market-like environment. Volunteers and staff at ALIVE!'s food hubs also connect clients with ALIVE!'s other support services and community resources. Help us reach out goal of collecting 30,000 pounds of food for ALIVE! in July by supporting Volunteer Alexandria's Food4ALX food drive! Throughout the month of July, participants can visit any of the 21 collection boxes to donate food, and volunteers will transport these items to the ALIVE! warehouse. Most Needed Items (No Glass Containers Please): canned meats, fruits, and veggies cooking oil and peanut butter in plastic jars ready-to-eat non-perishable kids meals. During the month of June, ALIVE! will hold five food distributions for Alexandria City residents in need of food assistance. ALIVE! provides fresh produce, chicken, eggs, and bread. Proof of Alexandria residency may be requested. Please bring reusable bags if possible. Saturday, June 15th 8am – 10am at Fairlington United Methodist Church (3900 King St) Saturday, June 15th 10am – 12pm at UNCUT Youth (1501 Cameron St) Thursday, June 20th 4pm – 6pm at Hammond Middle School (4646 Seminary Rd) Friday, June 21st 10am – 11am Old Town Community Church (212 S Washington St) Saturday, June 29th 8:30am – 10:30am ? Leonard “Chick” Armstrong Recreation Center (25 West Reed Ave) ? William Ramsay Rec Center (5650 Sanger Ave) Free groceries and connections to support services are also available four days a week at ALIVE!'s Food Hubs in Del Ray and on the West End of Alexandria.
