If you’re working on embedded UI development, especially for power-efficient and performance-critical applications, hardware acceleration is a game-changer. In our latest project, we used LVGL to build the UI for an embedded device running on the Alif Semiconductor E7 MCU. To push performance even further, we integrated DAVE2D, the E7’s built-in 2D graphics acceleration engine. The results? Impressive. ?? - Smoother animations with minimal CPU load - Lower power consumption, crucial for battery-powered devices - A more responsive UI, even with complex graphics While LVGL is a fantastic lightweight GUI library, enabling DAVE2D acceleration significantly improves performance. Of course, it wasn’t just plug-and-play—setting up the driver and fine-tuning memory buffers took effort—but the end result was well worth it. For anyone working with embedded UI for IoT or EdgeAI applications, leveraging hardware acceleration can make all the difference.
