Reflecting on the evolution of scheduling in construction, I’m reminded of how pivotal these advancements are to overcoming some of our industry’s most persistent challenges. In my recent article for Construction Executive, I dive into what I call "The Paradigms of Construction Scheduling," exploring how we’ve evolved from Gantt charts to generative scheduling. Planning and scheduling accuracy is key: building an anti-fragile schedule can drive project success, while rigid or resilient schedules risks costly setbacks. Each paradigm represents a shift in how we approach complexity and risk, from linear, deterministic planning to today's AI-driven solutions. Generative scheduling, for example, is no longer just a tool—it’s a strategic advantage. By simulating countless potential paths and adjusting in real time, we can now achieve levels of resilience and efficiency unimaginable even a decade ago. This evolution is not just about technology but about empowering teams to deliver exceptional results, even under pressure.
