THE MIND IS NOT YOUR BRAIN. We have a 'bodymind schema." Research into bodily awareness is leading us to rethink the nature of consciousness as body, mind and environment. Every thought, memory, emotion, perception and prediction that we construct in our life includes something about the state of our?bodymind.?Emotions, as Dr. Candace Pert explained to ALICE, are not simply chemicals in the brain. They are electrochemical signals that carry emotional messages throughout the body. These signals, a mixture of peptides, have far reaching effects. Researchers are now looking at how our bodies’ ability to sense internal bodily signals—what’s known as “interoception”—could be the vital next step to diagnose and treat mental illness. And the growing evidence of the "gut reaction" —that feeling of just knowing—and the BIG axis of health and emotions (brain-immune-gut) are just a few examples of the Bodymind Schema we posses. https://lnkd.in/et8gZxFH

INFINITE CONSEQUENCES...MORE THAN EVER, WE NEED CLEVER, FANTASTICAL MIRACULOUS HUMANS. It is no secret that we are living in a time of polarization and?discontent. The 24/7 news cycle has consumed our spirit. But what if humans are smarter than we take credit for? R evisiting the resounding wisdom of Robert Thurman from our ALICE interview archives, we can consider the?possibility that the human being is fantastic and that human embodiment is an absolute miracle. And that, perhaps, the chaos and fear that surrounds us is?actually forcing human cleverness to focus on our ego paranoia instead of love, altruism, intelligence and creativity. After all, we have the creativity, we have the communication network, we have the educational ability, we know how people work, we have the meditative knowledge. ?? All The Feels! There’s neurochemistry behind curiosity and thrill, wonder is an embodied sense and molecules of emotion run our bodymind. The hormones that make us feel good aren’t just regulated by the brain but are part of a choreography between the brain, heart and skin. Hugging has built-in stress-buffering effects; awe can give us healing ‘chills’; we have a built-in reward system that feeds our curiosity (hello fellow ‘informavores’); and yes, we can feel wonder in our bodies. It's 2024... so, how are we doing? The milestone year of 2030 for sustainability agendas as championed by the United Nations Global Impact’s “Agenda 2030” is a mere 6 years away. Do a quick search on “2030 sustainability goals” and you will see many programs and missions set for transitioning to a net-zero world… and some stakes extended to 2035 and beyond. Scalability and speed have been the challenge—some Goliaths of commerce say—but the Davids are blazing us forward. Thanks to Deniz Kent, PhD and the soon-to-launch Prolific Machines and the infrastructure startups that @Arne Morteani and Kiko Ventures support; Air Protein turning air into proteins we can eat; Made of Air's waste engineered biochar based materials; Twelve's force to replace anything made from oil to come from air instead; and Novoloop's Lifecycling? program to create new materials from non-recyclable plastics and so many others that are MAKING—not pledging or just promising—progress towards net-zero realities.
