?? Exciting day at the Alexandria Area YMCA! On Wednesday, we welcomed Senator Klobuchar to discuss federal funding towards an expansion that will meet our growing community's needs. This project will expand child care and older adult programs and services, and create youth and teen engagement opportunities that foster unique intergenerational connections. Last night, at our Staff Training and Ice Cream Social, we learned how we can provide a welcoming and safe environment for both kids and adults in our community. ?? We were proud to honor U.S. Representative Michelle Fischbach as a “YMCA Congressional Champion” in Washington, D.C., on February 14 for her leadership on the bipartisan Investing in Rural America Act. Jackie Peters, CEO of the Alexandria Area YMCA presented the award during the YMCA of the USA’s National Advocacy Days. At the conference, over 400 Y leaders from across the country traveled to visit members of Congress to discuss the vital role that Ys play in communities nationwide and to urge them to advance policies that empower young people, improve the health and well-being of people of all ages and foster social responsibility.

Today, we get to celebrate not one but TWO of our amazing team members and their impact! ?? Child Care Director, Tracy, is celebrating 5 years. ???♀? Health & Wellness Coordinator, Tammi, is celebrating 13 years. Thank you for all you do, Tammi and Tracy!
