Some days, American health care seems so broken that I despair of whether we can fix it. This morning, I started my day listening to the latest ACO Podcast, and my faith was restored. Thanks to Sean Cavanaugh and Joshua Israel for these stories of independent practices and FQHCs making dramatic improvements in hypertension control (one of the most important ways that good primary care and prevention can save lives) and for showcasing that even high performers can continue to innovate to improve patient care. https://lnkd.in/egVCk8Bj

We were honored to be a small part of Community Health Center Association of Mississippi ‘s annual conference on the MS Gulf Coast. We were able to recognize several amazing Value Based Care partners through our ACOs here in the state. We spotlighted ACO Champions (Felicia S.), C-Suite Executives (Keila Brown), Physician & Clinician Champions (Chad Frye), Shooting for the “STAR” Centers (Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative, Inc. (SEMRHI) and Family Health Center, Inc.), and our TOP CHCs of 2023 (Amite County Medical Services, Inc. and North MS Primary Health Care). My word (!!) do we feel privileged to partner with this amazing group of health centers serving our state day after day. We also celebrated our year as a MS Team - we connected, strategized, and broke down walls - nothing standing in our way! Discussions with U.S. lawmakers focused on improving patient care through ACOs, extending key incentives, and addressing the financial challenges facing independent practices.
