For many families we serve, especially those led by grandparents taking on the role of caregivers, every Holiday Help gift counts. Meet our Board of Directors: Jordan Troutman joined the Alcovy CASA board in 2024. “Having begun my career as a social worker,” says Jordan, “Alcovy CASA provides the opportunity to support an organization dear to my heart. In addition, I can affect the lives of parents, youth, and the community in a most meaningful way. After completing a successful service project with Alcovy CASA through Leadership Newton, I knew Alcovy CASA would allow me to fuel my why. I am grateful to be able to support such an amazing organization and a staple in Newton County.” We are grateful for all the support Jordan provides!

Sometimes, the perfect gift is more than just a present—it’s a way to make a young person feel seen and valued. Last year during our Holiday Help event, one of our local teens requested goth-themed gifts (she loves all things dark and edgy). Meet our Board of Directors: Anessa Westmoreland joined the Alcovy CASA Board in 2023 while looking for a way to give back to the community. She had first-hand knowledge of the importance of a CASA from working in the juvenile justice system. Anessa is currently employed with Covington-Newton County 911 as the 911 Operations Manager. We are grateful for Anessa and all of the ways she supports Alcovy CASA!

Meet our Board of Directors: Scott Tredeau is the Publisher of The NEWTON Community Magazine. He joined our Board in 2023. “I joined because our youth are our biggest asset. And Alcovy CASA is able to catch the ones that fall through the cracks. I want to be a part of that.” We are grateful for Scott and all the ways he supports Alcovy CASA!

We were honored to be chosen as the recipient of this year's cookbook donations. Meet our Board of Directors: Diane Hutchinson-Fontana, Membership Director for the Newton County Chamber of Commerce. joined the board in 2023. With a wealth of experience in nonprofit management and strong ties to the community, Diane brings many assets to our program. We are grateful for Diane and all the ways she supports Alcovy CASA!

One of the most important things our staff can do at Alcovy CASA is support and retain our volunteers. Consistency is a hallmark of our program: when a child experiencing foster care has a consistent Court Appointed Special Advocate, they are more likely to receive all the support and services they need while in the child welfare system. Each month we reflect on the volunteers celebrating a "CASA-Versary"- the anniversary of the date they were first sworn in as Alcovy CASA Volunteers!
