March is Developmental Disabilities (DD) Awareness Month, but DD awareness takes more than a month—it’s something we do every day. In Oregon, nearly 67,000 youth and adults live with developmental disabilities. They live, work, and contribute alongside us, building stronger, more diverse communities. We all deserve to live full lives, including opportunities for competitive, integrated employment, safe and accessible housing, meaningful relationships, and access to physical and mental health care. ?? ?? Honoring the Legacy of Albertina Kerr on International Women’s Day??? Today, on ?????????????????????????? ??????????’?? ?????? and during ??????????’?? ?????????????? ??????????, we reflect on the remarkable legacy of our namesake, ?????????????????? ?????????????? ????????. At just 21 years old, Albertina’s life was cut short by typhoid fever, but her final wish—“???????? ?????????? ?????????? ???????????????????? ????????????, ??????.”—sparked a movement that continues to empower lives today. In her honor, her husband, Alexander Kerr, laid the foundation for the organization we are today. For more than a century, Kerr has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. Albertina’s story is one of ???????????????????? ?????? ????????????????—???????????? ???? ?????????? ?????????????? ?????????? ?????? as we support individuals with I/DD and mental health challenges. ??
