Our Tribal Coastal Resilience Connections team participated in the United Tribes of North Carolina 49th Annual Unity Conference, showcasing the release of the Phase I Report and inviting tribal community members to share their #WaterStory! Read here: https://bit.ly/TCRCreport The team’s overarching goal is to increase awareness among tribal communities around the risks and threats of climate change, foster discussions about adapting to these changes, and highlight great work that tribal communities are already doing throughout Virginia, North Carolina, and the southeast coastal plain. We welcome Program Coordinator Chandler Allred (Tuscarora) and encourage tribal organizations and community members, university and agency resilience practitioners, and others to review and reflect upon the report written by: Beth Roach (Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia), Tribal Coastal Resilience Connections Program Director, Sierra Club National Water Conservation Campaign Manager Dr. Ryan Emanuel (Lumbee), Associate Professor, Duke University, and Jocelyn Painter (Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska), PhD Student, Duke University A major component also includes educating resilience practitioners from agencies, universities, and other organizations on best practices for engaging with Tribes, and ensuring all communities are included in resilience planning. APNEP staff Stacey Feken, Elizabeth Armistead Andrews, and other partners assist with this aspect of the initiative.

Identifying, protecting, and restoring the significant natural resources of the Albemarle-Pamlico estuarine system.
关于我们
The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership (APNEP) is one of the 28 National Estuary Programs in the U.S. (https://www.epa.gov/nep). APNEP’s program area is ~28,000 sq. miles extending across most of the Albemarle-Pamlico watershed, including the Neuse, Tar-Pamlico, Pasquotank, Chowan, lower Roanoke, and parts of the White Oak River basins in North Carolina and Southeastern Virgina. APNEP is a cooperative effort jointly hosted by the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality under a grant from the U.S. EPA. The Partnership also works closely with the Commonwealth of Virginia in implementation of the Comprehensive Conservation & Management Plan (CCMP). APNEP's mission is to identify, protect, and restore the significant resources of the Albemarle-Pamlico estuarine system. APNEP pursues this mission with guidance and support from its overarching CCMP, advisory bodies and regional partners.
