We were delighted to host air traffic controllers from the Federal Aviation Administration’s Boston District for the Annual Air Traffic Managers Meeting. Commonly referred to as one of the most important jobs in the aviation industry, ATC’s are responsible for directing aircraft, preventing collisions, communicating with pilots, monitoring weather, and so much more. They are vital to ensuring safety, each and every day. Each year, this meeting allows these ATC’s to discuss safety trends, new procedures, training new hires and resource management. Please join us in wishing the United States Air Force a very happy 77th birthday! On today’s date in 1947, the USAF was established as its own branch of the military by Congress and President Henry S. Truman. Prior to being officially established, aircraft and pilots had been under the purview of the U.S. Army. At ALB, we’re proud to frequently welcome USAF aircraft, including this pictures C-17 that was here transporting helicopters back in May.

? Safety is always paramount at ALB and one of the ways Airport Operations ensures the airfield is safe is by performing several daily inspections. Daily self-inspections of the airfield are just one of Airport Operations’ many responsibilities. Personnel familiarize themselves with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and the ins and outs of the airfield to spot anything out of the ordinary and assess the best way to address a potential problem safely and efficiently. This morning, we gathered to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to #neverforget the tragic events of September 11, 2001. At the Albany Airport firehouse, airline personnel from United and American Airlines joined Transportation Security Administration - TSA officers to place a wreath at the airport’s September 11th stone memorial. The event was attended by several employees from ALB. At the ceremony, Albany County Airport Authority Board Chair Sam Fresina provided remarks and a moment of silence was observed followed by a bagpiper playing Amazing Grace.

???? 23 years ago today, our Nation experienced unimaginable loss and tragedy. The events of September 11, 2001, however, could not break our American spirit, pride and resilience. We stood united and vowed to #NeverForget. We must always remember those who were lost, the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice serving others, and all those impacted by that tragic day.

Commonly referred to as “The 79 Building” because it was built in 1979, Concourse A where Allegiant and United currently operate, is finally about to get many upgrades that will improve holding room, passenger flow and yes, receive TWO NEW GATES AND GATE BRIDGES!! Beginning towards the end of this month, passengers can expect to see some temporary walls being erected and construction activities. ?? Check out the latest, including the poured elevator shaft at the North Garage, pile caps as foundation work continues near the terminal, and the recently poured escalator pit. If you’re traveling through ALB picking up or dropping off passengers, please remember the following during construction activities: #PlanAhead #BePrepared #ArriveTwoHoursEarly ?? Some sidewalks and vestibules remain closed. Follow signage when getting to and from the terminal. ?? Driving in front of the terminal? Follow signage and directions from security personnel. ?? E-Lot shuttle pick-up is near baggage claim exit. Follow signage. ?? Ride share and taxi pick up are to the parking lot to the right when you exit baggage claim. ? REMEMBER - Curbside parking is NEVER permitted. Please use cell phone lot or short term parking if picking up passengers. A few other helpful travel tips: ??? All travelers are urged to arrive at the airport no less than TWO HOURS prior to their flight’s scheduled departure. Doing so will allow ample time to park, check bags if necessary, go through the security checkpoint and arrive at the departure gate. ?? Consider using alternate transportation to and from the airport. This will alleviate you having to find parking while also saving you time. ? Check- in early either online or by using your airline’s mobile app. Doing so will save you time when you arrive at the airport, especially if you don’t need to check baggage. ?? Be sure you have all your documentation, such as identification, boarding pass and any other pertinent documents you may need. ?? Before packing, please visit www.tsa.gov to find out which items are prohibited from having in either your carry-on or checked luggage. Be sure also to check to ensure you’re not packing prohibited amounts of liquids, gels, creams, pastes or aerosols. ?? Traveling with children?
