OpenAI's Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati is leaving the company. After six-and-a-half years at the company, including temporarily serving as its CEO after cofounder Sam Altman was briefly ousted, Murati told employees in a message Wednesday she had "made the difficult decision to leave." "After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to leave OpenAI," Murati wrote in a letter to the company's staff. "While I'll express my gratitude to many individuals in the coming days, I want to start by thanking Sam and Greg for their trust in me to lead the technical organization and for their support throughout the years," she continued, referring to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and President Greg Brockman. "There's never an ideal time to step away from a place one cherishes, yet this moment feels right."

Golden threads, embroidered in Albania, 1800s ?? Woman’s coat with hanging sleeves, silk velvet embroidered with metal thread and trimmed with metal braid and cord. Layers of intricate silver and gold cords weave through this red silk velvet coat, adorned with handmade buttons and coral beads for a touch of opulence. The ground of this red silk velvet coat has been divided into sections by rows of silver cord that alternate with thinner gold ones. These encircle the opening, which gives access to a generous pocket on either side of the coat. It is almost impossible to see the red velvet beneath the convoluted lines of metal thread that ooze into every corner, rather like the creeping tendrils of a weed feeling its way through gaps and filling the available space. Two colours of metal thread have been used. They were made by winding flat metal strips around a yellow silk core: small amounts of a reddish or coppery gold outline the silver cords while the rest of the embroidery is worked with glittery yellow gold.
