Fair maps impact people, not just politics. Pastor Jackson sheds light on how unfair maps silence voices and deny resources, especially in Black communities. This is a moral fight for fairness and true representation. Stay engaged and demand change! #FairMaps #Representation

Fair maps aren’t just about politics, they’re about people. Pastor Jackson, a dedicated community leader, speaks to the real-life impact of unfair district lines and why the fight for fair representation matters. As someone who serves, supports, and uplifts her community, Pastor Jackson knows firsthand how gerrymandering silences voices and denies resources to those who need them most. Her perspective is vital. This isn’t just a legal battle, it’s a moral one. When district lines are drawn to weaken Black political power, entire communities suffer. Fair maps mean fair opportunities, access to resources, and a true voice in decisions that shape our lives. The fight continues. Speak up, stay engaged, and demand fair maps that represent every community fairly. #FairMaps #OurVoteOurPower #RepresentationMatters #AlabamaValues

A literary giant, anthropologist, and filmmaker, Zora Neale Hurston unapologetically told the stories of Black life, love, and struggle. From breaking barriers during the Harlem Renaissance to inspiring generations to challenge injustice, her work remains a force in the fight for racial and gender equality. This #WomensHistoryMonth, we honor her legacy, one that reminds us to speak our truth, amplify marginalized voices, and push for change. Her impact paved the way, now it's our turn to carry it forward!? #ZoraNealeHurston #BlackExcellence #HerStory

Fair representation is a fundamental right, not a privilege, yet the fight to secure it continues. A Supreme Court ruling has forced Alabama to redraw its congressional districts, addressing a Voting Rights Act violation. The Alabama NAACP, a plaintiff in Allen v. Milligan, continues to push for a district that truly reflects the Black Belt’s significant Black population and empowers voters. Team AV sat down with Bernard Simelton, President of the Alabama NAACP, to discuss the critical changes needed to ensure Black voters have the power to elect candidates who truly represent them. This fight isn’t just about redrawing lines, it’s about securing real political power for historically marginalized communities. We need leaders like Bernard, leaders who stand on the front lines, challenge systemic barriers, and demand justice. Fair maps mean fair representation, and that’s a fight we refuse to back down from. #FairMaps #VotingRights #ALPolitics

Before Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin, a fearless 15-year-old who refused to give up her seat, igniting the fight for civil rights. Her courage reminds us that young voices have power and that justice is never convenient, it’s demanded. Today, as we fight voter suppression, racial injustice, and inequality, let’s honor her legacy by standing up, speaking out, and pushing forward. Because change doesn’t wait, it starts with us! #WomensHistoryMonth #ClaudetteColvin #StandForJustice

Unbought & Unbossed, Shirley Chisholm shattered barriers and rewrote history! As the first African American woman in Congress and the first to seek a major party’s presidential nomination, she paved the way for future generations. In a time when representation, equity, and leadership still demand a fight, her fearless spirit reminds us: "If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." Let’s honor her legacy by breaking more ceilings! ???? #WomensHistoryMonth #ShirleyChisholm #UnboughtUnbossed

#throwback to Team @AlaValues + @shakethefieldal collaboration. We Out Here Wednesday episode on Edmund Pettus Bridge. 60 years ago, our ancestors put their bodies on the line, crossing the Edmund Pettus Bridge knowing they might not make it to the other side. On Bloody Sunday, they were met with tear gas, clubs, and hatred, but they kept pushing forward. Their sacrifice forced this country to reckon with itself and moved us closer to the promise of democracy. This weekend, we honor them, but we don’t just commemorate, we commit. The fight for voting rights and true representation isn’t history, it’s right now. The bridge isn’t just a landmark, it’s a reminder that the work isn’t done. We stand on the shoulders of those who marched before us, and we owe it to them, and to ourselves, to keep pushing. We don’t cross the bridge to remember, we cross it to move forward. ??? #Selma60 #KeepMarching #VotingRightsNow #FromTheGroundUp
