Alabama Veteran is a registered 501(c)3 organization headquartered in Birmingham, providing outreach assistance throughout the state. Our mission is to create an environment within the Alabama community that will engage both Veterans and civilians in order to generate a shared understanding of our veteran experience and continued development of community engagement and camaraderie. We provide opportunities for Veterans and current military members to remain engaged and working towards reaching their full potential. We try to enrich their life by promoting the spirit of camaraderie through social, fitness, outdoor recreation and through curating a network of providers whom each deliver specialized services in accordance with our service men and women’s individual needs. Our vision is to remain steadfast as the largest growing, community-based, peer-to-peer organization while providing a trusted space for Veterans and service members to reach out for guidance and connect. Our peer-to-peer engagement strategy has enabled us to maintain contact with Veterans long after connecting with them- we will remain a 100% effective community builder. Our Veteran Engagement Strategy is one of a kind! We take a One-Stop approach towards promoting mental and physical wellness through community and digital interface. Our Website Connects Veterans with 1-Click access to a wealth of resources, opportunities to connect with member organizations, Veteran community Blog Subscriptions, and a unique Get Assistance Feature that connects Veterans with our case management and relief efforts.

It is an esteemed honor to have been nominated as distinguished recipients of the 2024 Veteran Champions of the Year (VCOY) in Corporate America, honoring those who embody exceptional dedication to supporting America’s veterans in the civilian workforce. This year, 58 exemplary champions have been selected for their unwavering advocacy on behalf of veterans and military employees across corporate America, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. These individuals are recognized for their roles in establishing and nurturing sustainable opportunities, services and programs within their respective organizations. Examples include recruiting and hiring initiatives, onboarding and mentoring programs, veteran network and affinity groups, bridging the cultural gap between veteran and non-veteran employees, recognizing military service within the organization, and working with veterans service organizations and other community groups. “The transition from military to civilian life can be challenging, even for the most prepared service members. The remarkable support and guidance provided by these advocates to help veterans thrive in their civilian careers are truly commendable,” said Dan Fazio, awards program manager. “We take immense pride in shining the spotlight on these 58 people.” I’d like to thank my employer, University of Alabama at Birmingham for their support of Veterans, Alabama Veteran in which I have the privilege of serving on the Board of Directors, and the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs who provides opportunities to mentor and support those that served and sacrificed for our country.

On April 4th, 2024, the illustrious Martin Family has bestowed upon us an extraordinary gift, allowing us to significantly enhance the aspirations of Mr. Roy Martin - a visionary leader in supporting veterans. This unparalleled contribution comprises two revamped real estate developments, made possible through the tireless efforts and expertise of his devoted wife Charlotte. With immense gratitude, we announce that their exceptional act of generosity that will enable our organization to make a profound impact on the lives of countless veterans and their families. Thanks to their remarkable donation, spearheaded by Mrs. Charlotte Martin, we have received not one but two extensively refurbished properties to further Mr. Roy Martin's dream of providing for those who have served our nation. We are honored to reveal the transformative effect of The Martin Family's philanthropy, which has granted us the means to substantially expand and improve our support programs for veterans. Special thanks to Noah Galloway, Mike Woods, Chip Pearce, City of Pelham, Mayor Gary Waters-Pelham, John Pinion, Birmingham VA Health Care System and the entire Martin Family Foundation team.
