As Chapter President, it is an honor to work with the Board to brainstorm new ways to bring educational, valuable (and entertaining!) content to the credit union employees of our community. Yesterday, our Shoals Chapter of Credit Unions’ Lunch & Learn event brought together both credit union and bank employees from around the Shoals to enhance awareness and strengthen our frontline defense against fraud. ?? It was a great reminder for us all that this is a multi industry-spanning issue, and that we are stronger when we fight together. Thank you to Special Agents Miles Faggert & Jeffrey Ioimo from the Alabama Securities Commission for spreading awareness on the growing threat of cryptocurrency scams in Alabama and beyond. ???? Knowledge is our best tool in the fight against fraud, and the Chapter is proud to provide free resources like this to our credit unions.

ASC urges anyone with an investment account to have a "trusted contact" listed! #AskASC What is a "trusted contact?" It is a person you authorize your financial firm to reach out to in certain circumstances if they can't reach you. Circumstances could include if you are traveling, a natural disaster occurs, you are dealing with health issues, or if fraud is suspected. A "trusted contact" adds an extra layer of security and helps your financial firm keep your account safe. #ASC #finances #financialprotection #trustedcontact

NASAA today released its annual list of top threats to retail investors. This year, the most critical threats include financial scams tied to digital assets and cryptocurrency, social media apps, and marketing tactics designed to play on emotions.
