Plant Gorgas played a key role in powering Alabama for over a century. Now, its legacy continues in a new way. We are developing the state’s first utility-scale battery energy storage system at the former Plant Gorgas site in Walker County. The Gorgas Battery Facility will store up to 150 MW of electricity—enough to power approximately 9,000 homes—helping to strengthen our grid and ensure power is available when customers need it. Construction is set to begin in 2025, with completion expected by 2027. We are proud to honor the legacy of Plant Gorgas while investing in innovative solutions for the future. https://lnkd.in/d8FgDXZB
