关于我们
There is a global narrative that often mischaracterizes the MENA region. We want to change that through knowledge and mosaic thinking. As a platform of current learning resources to keep pace with this vibrant region, Al Fusaic aims to be a space where events, information, and cultural exchanges will always be available to expand one's experience. From fashion to food, articles to alphabets, and videos to vacation, we want Al Fusaic to be your space for cultural and educational advancement. Al Fusaic is a mash-up of the Arabic word, ??????? (pronounced fasayfisā) and its English translation, mosaic. This Arabeezee (Arabic and English) word highlights our perspectives of the MENA (Middle East and North African) region that were shaped by our cross-cultural experiences. We use ‘mosaic’ because it exemplifies the breadth of Al Fusaic resources and its constantly expanding space for those interested in MENA to explore, learn, grow, and contribute.

Meet our Intern, Sofia! Sofia is an undergraduate student at the University of California, Berkeley, studying International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies with a focus in Peace and Conflict Studies. She brings to Al-Fusaic five years of experience in both political campaigns and security policy. As an intern with Al-Fusaic, she hopes to utilize both her Arabic language skills and substantive understanding of cross-cultural dynamics in SWANA to guide her research into the role that cultural organizations are playing in conflict mediation.

Meet our Intern, Elisa! Elisa is currently a Junior in High School attending Portland Community College as a Dual Enrollment Student graduating in 2025. She plans to pursue a degree in National Security Studies with a minor in Legal Studies and Middle East studies. Elisa has participated in various programs such as her local Search and Rescue with the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Girl Security, where she learned from women in various positions of National Security. Through her active roles in these programs, among other leadership programs, Elisa found her passion for peace building between foreign entities. In March of 2024, she was awarded the NSLI-Y Study Abroad Scholarship that is given by the U.S Department of State. With this, she is planning to enhance her communication skills with the MENA regions by learning Arabic in Marrakesh, Morocco in the summer of 2024. Through actively pursuing knowledge of the MENA region, Elisa hopes to promote others to learn about the MENA region and how they can make an impact through preserving the MENA culture.
