Mobile Infirmary in Alabama performed unnecessary back surgeries at a rate of over 37%, according to a new report. This is well above the national average of 14% overuse for spinal fusions. The surgeries put patients at needless risk and cost taxpayers $millions. The hospital has not yet commented on the findings.
