I’m happy to share that I’ve obtained two new certification: AKYLADE Certified Cyber Resilience Practitioner (A/CCRP) and Foundation (A/CCRF) and from AKYLADE?! In last 3 weeks, I undertook the AKYLADE A/CCRF and A/CCRP certification programs offered by Akylade to strengthen and formalize my experience with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF). The foundational exam, A/CCRF, focuses on understanding the basic aspects of NIST CSF, particularly the six primary functions of a security program and how it can be tailored to fit an organization's needs. This exam was straightforward for me, as it validated my pre-existing knowledge and experience with NIST CSF. However, the A/CCRP practitioner exam piqued my interest the most. With years of consulting experience for small and mid-sized businesses, I have developed my own process to help my clients achieve a certain level of security posture. While I have used this process effectively several times, there is always that lingering thought—how can I make it better? Am I missing anything? How are others approaching this? This is precisely what the A/CCRP program addresses. It introduces the "Cyber Risk Management Action Plan" process, providing step-by-step guidance on achieving NIST CSF goals for each organization. The program teaches you how to evaluate a company during Phase 1: Discovery, ensuring a comprehensive understanding and detailed insights into a company's current security posture and target security goals based on business objectives. Next, we delve into Phase 2: Creating an Action Plan, where implementation details are evaluated and introduced, considering both internal and external factors, as well as internal and external marketing in order to ensure the implementation is a success. Finally, Phase 3: Monitoring and Maintenance involves regular reporting on the implementation status through monthly, quarterly, and yearly reviews, keeping everyone in the loop. Overall, the certification and the content did not disappoint. It provided a lot of insights and practical information to help me improve myself and my process, as well as further validating my pre-existing knowledge and practices. I highly recommend that GRC practitioners take the course.
