Today, we announce a significant milestone in our #AnimalHealth revolution: We are partnering with Purdue University to co-develop an innovative anti-cPD-L1 monoclonal antibody (mAb) immunotherapy for treating cancer in dogs. The potential therapy aims to target and block the cPD-L1 protein on cancer cells. We are set to enter clinical trials later this year for bladder cancer in dogs - a locally aggressive disease with a high potential to spread. We are ready to get to work with one of the foremost researchers in Comparative Oncology, Dr. Deborah Knapp, to translate this immunotherapy to dogs, which has already shown remarkable clinical impact in multiple human cancer types. Last week it was announced that Dechra, a global specialist in veterinary pharmaceuticals and related products had agreed a deal to acquire Akston Biosciences Corporation’s dog and cat long-acting insulin programs. Dechra’s purchase gives it ownership of the intellectual property and rights for the development, manufacturing, and worldwide commercialization of both programs. For its interests, Akston receives an upfront cash payment, fees to support technology transfer, and near-term milestone payments based on the program's development progress.
