In partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for our strategic direction and achieving impact. The Executive Director will possess financial wisdom and skills to generate resources for financial support, managing donor and volunteer relationships and overseeing the administration of all finances, programming, marketing, operations and compliance under the policies, directives and guidelines established by the Board of Directors. Dear Friends of Akron Youth Mentorship: The Board of Directors of Akron Youth Mentorship is announcing that Ron Kent is no longer the Executive Director. We are grateful for Ron’s nearly 8 years of service to Akron Youth Mentorship and wish him continued success as he pursues new opportunities to serve youth in our community. Our mission remains steadfast: to help the youth of Akron make the best decisions every moment of every day. We know the importance of this work; the City of Akron’s 2023-2028 Youth Violence Strategic plan prioritizes “mentoring” as a primary strategy because it is considered an evidence-based practice to reduce the risk of youth participating in violent crimes. Our dedicated staff and volunteers continue this important work with the youth we serve as we begin our search for new leadership. The Board of Directors has established a Transition Committee to focus on supporting the organization as we begin the process of permanently filling the Executive Director position.
