The Akron-Summit County Public Library's main branch recently became a community energy customer, so we wanted to check in with its Facilities Director, Peter Schantz, to see how things are going. "The community energy system has improved the comfort level in our buildings because we now have an uninterrupted supply of heating and cooling," said Schantz. "It wasn't that way ten months ago. We were happy to welcome Ohio State Representative Veronica Sims to the City of Akron's Community Energy plant last week. Representative Sims, pictured below with AES President Marc Divis, was provided with a tour of the plant and a presentation detailing how community energy positively impacts the city. The Akron Energy Systems community energy plant operates three natural gas-fired boilers capable of generating up to 450,000 lbs. of steam each hour.
