In 1890, a group of women founded the Mary Day Nursery, which eventually grew into what Akron Children's Hospital is today. The nursery was where the three promises of Akron Children's originated: -To treat every child as we would our own -To treat others as they would like to be treated -To turn no child away for any reason Over the past 135 years, the original mission to serve kids in the Akron community has grown to serve countless kids and families throughout the United States and even globally. This Women's History Month, we honor the compassion and dedication of the women who started this organization, and every woman who has been a part of it since.
