Staff showed care in cleaning up National Capital Park-East, nurtured nature by spreading mulch around Allegheny Commons Park, and raised funds for senior furry friends. Akoya is proud to support diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) at FHLBanks through the “Telling Our Story” project. Genna Cavanaugh and Whitney Tipton, Ph.D. recently traveled to Chicago to present the results of six months of interviews. These interviews led to the development of 14 DEI-focused stories, a new website, and infographics, which will be released in November. Stay tuned! #DEI #Inclusion

Happy Akoya anniversary to our very own Karen Marchese! Karen joined the company back when it was named Brandegee. We are so lucky to have benefitted from 35 years of Karen’s expertise. She has provided consistently stellar support for the Solid-State Lighting and Emerging Technologies Programs at the Department of Energy. With apologies to Steelers fans and their Terrible Towel… the Akoya beach towel has taken over! Akoyans across the country brightened their communities with a vibrant splash of orange this summer. We loved seeing photos of how staff enjoyed their plush swag. Congratulations to Ashley Anzelone, PHR, SPHR on winning Akoya’s Sweet Summertime photo contest and earning a tote bag!

We share with grief that Nancy Reese, co-founder of Akoya, passed away last week. Nancy was a beloved and highly respected colleague, as well as a vocal champion of women’s rights, as shown through her support of the Women's Law Project. Starting a new job can be overwhelming. ?? Having a #mentor during the first month helps! Our Akoya Point Person (APP) initiative matches every new Akoyan with a current employee for regular meetings at the start of employment. We want our new hires to start building rapport with their colleagues from day one. ??
