In our lab, we are currently conducting an in-depth investigation into the spatial organization of the TME in large-cell neuroendocrine carcinomas (LCNEC) of the lung (17x marker multiplex panel). Our preliminary findings suggest significant heterogeneity in both the peritumoral bystander cell populations and the immune cell infiltrates, reflecting the diverse clinical responses observed towards immune checkpoint inhibition. Additionally, we observe marked differences in tumor vascularization, ranging from highly perfused tumors to those with diminished angiogenic activity. The integration of these spatial data with clinical outcomes, as well as genetic and transcriptomic profiles from this cohort, will provide critical insights into the underlying biology and therapeutic vulnerabilities of LCNEC. ?? ?? ?? Very excited to share that our image titled "Periodontal Petals" was selected as a winner of the 2025 Koch Institute Image Awards! This image showcases our efforts to understand the spatial tissue niche changes in periodontitis using spatial proteomics (Codex Phenocycler platform from Akoya Biosciences, Inc. ). Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects almost one in two adults worldwide with no definitive cure and has been associated with diseases like Alzheimers, different cancers, colitis, rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes. We hope our research can help reveal new strategies to target this disease. Huge shoutout to my collaborators Y. W. Stacy Cho , Stephanie Yiu and the incredible mentors of this project Alex K. Shalek , Laura Kiessling , Sizun Jiang Dr. David Kim and Dr. Chia-Yu Chen from MIT Department of Chemistry,MIT Institute for Medical Engineering and Science (IMES), Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Harvard Medical School Its an incredible honor to see our image displayed at the Koch Institute of Integrative Cancer Research at MIT. Looking forward to more exciting updates on this project and amazing collaboration. #MIT #KochInstitute #KImages #BIDMC #HSDM
