This year, we were thrilled to once again sponsor the Crofton Cybirds, a local high school robotics team competing in the FIRST Chesapeake Robotics Competition. ?? In their two straight weekends of competition, the Cybirds soared to a 3rd place finish at the Severn event held at Spaulding High School. With strong momentum, they’re on track to compete in the Regional Championship in Upper Marlboro, MD, this April—and we couldn’t be more excited for them! ?? A special shoutout to our own Marc Vincent, who has dedicated his time as a mentor for the program. We're proud of his commitment to STEM education and leadership! Here at Akina, we value supporting STEM programs for our next generation and the future of tech. Sunshine, camaraderie, and a little friendly competition! Despite the chilly breeze, we had a fantastic time at the AFCEA Central Maryland Chapter shooting event at Pintail at the Point this past Friday. Akina was proud to have two teams out there, representing and enjoying the perfect setup. We had an absolute blast (pun intended!) and can’t wait to do it again next year! We are especially celebrating the women within the cryptological and national security spaces such as: ?? Elizebeth Smith Friedmap, who was known as the woman who smashed codes ?? Agnes Meyer Driscoll, who was a pioneer cryptologist and Navy code breaker ?? Grace Murray Hopper, who is often deemed the Queen of Code. ??
