In 2009, CHF was honored to have its funded research published in Science Magazine, one of the most prestigious and highly respected scientific journals in the world. The groundbreaking study, "Coat Variation in Domestic Dogs is Governed by Variants in 3 Genes," reveals how just a few genes with simple inheritance patterns create the remarkable diversity of coats in dogs. Understanding these genetic factors can help in diagnosing and managing hereditary conditions affecting coat growth, skin disorders, or hair loss in dogs. Not only that, these genetic links help researchers understand how a dog’s physical traits are tied to their historical roles and behaviors. Join us for a free informational webinar at 6:00 p.m. (CT) on March 10 that dives into the UMN Animal Cancer Care program’s Lymphoma Risk Assessment (LyRA) study. z.umn.edu/a9ni Lymphoma is one of the most common cancers diagnosed in dogs. Researchers of the ACCR and Research program are testing new methods of identifying dogs at a higher risk of developing lymphoma. In so doing, the team’s goal is to also develop interventions that will reduce such risk and delay, or ideally prevent the disease from happening altogether. ??
