You are invited! When: November 9, 2024 Where: Coharie Tribal Center, Coharie Tribe Hosted by: Grappling Ladies of the Southeast States (GLOSS) with AIWPN Contact for Vendors & Donors: Sam at email: [email protected] This special event kicks off Native American Heritage Month literally and figuratively! It is aimed at raising awareness of the unique challenges Indigenous women face in today's society. Our goal is to highlight the numerous benefits Brazilian Jiujitsu can offer, including enhanced physical and mental health, confidence building, and self-defense skills. GLOSS is an organization dedicated to empowering and promoting female grapplers across the Southeastern United States. We recognize that Brazilian Jiujitsu is a powerful tool for improving both physical and mental well-being, as well as providing essential self-defense training. However, many Jiu Jitsu spaces remain male-dominated, which can be intimidating for women, particularly those new to the sport. GLOSS seeks to bridge this gap by creating supportive environments where women can connect, share knowledge, and train together. Event Details: Part One: ? BJJ Demonstration/Introductory Class: A session focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) to highlight its health benefits and self-defense techniques. ? AIWPN Talk: A 15-20 minute presentation by an AIWPN representative on the challenges faced by Indigenous women, including key statistics and community support strategies. Part Two: ? Open Mat and Q&A: An interactive session allowing attendees to ask questions, observe, and participate in the practice. We are currently seeking donors and vendors to participate. If you are interested, please contact the event coordinator, Sam through email: [email protected]. Your involvement would greatly contribute to our mission of fostering a more inclusive and empowering community for women in Brazilian Jiujitsu, and the Indigenous women of North Carolina. #AIWPN #GLOSS #selfdefenseforwomen #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth
