A University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science study shows that the acceleration in the upper-ocean circulation of the equatorial Pacific over the past 30 years has potential impacts on regional and global climate patterns, including the frequency and intensity of El Ni?o and La Ni?a events. I wanted to share a paper outlining the WMO infrastructure for long-range forecasts under the WIPPS (WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System) is in the process of getting published in BAMS. It was a wonderful teams effort between operational, research, and the WMO Secretariat.
