Caroline Helbeck started running as a way to de-stress outdoors and to push herself physically and mentally. For Caroline, running is bigger than just her: “It’s a huge community of people who share the same goal of conquering your body and mind to achieve what one would initially perceive as impossible.” ? In 2022, she raced the New York City Marathon to support AIRnyc, a milestone that she considers her best running experience as her entire family cheered her on and watched her accomplish the goal that she had worked so hard for. ? This year, Caroline will be running her third New York City Marathon and will once again proudly represent #TeamAIRnyc. She is inspired to run for AIRnyc because “this amazing charity helps close the gap of limited healthcare access and provides extremely beneficial services to those who otherwise would not receive medical assistance.” ? The 2024 #marathon is even more meaningful to Caroline because she is running it with both of her brothers! Completing this journey together would truly be a special achievement for all of them. ? Help support Caroline and AIRnyc by making a #donation to help her reach her $3,000 fundraising goal:?https://lnkd.in/g_uTZvF7 #ThankYou for your support! #TCSNYCMarathon #Running #Charity #GreatCause #NYC

Community health wherever you are. At AIRnyc, our highly trained team of Community Health Workers (CHWs) meets people where they live to improve health, connect families to critical resources, and build health equity. Our community-based organization has been transforming the lives of vulnerable New Yorkers for more than two decades through expert care coordination and coaching interventions to guide individuals and families on a healthier path. AIRnyc’s CHWs integrate with clinical care management teams to support patients living with chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, congestive heart failure, and diabetes, or who are in need of maternity care support. CHWs also help to disseminate important public health information, and provide social needs screening and navigation to assist people who are struggling with housing instability, unemployment, food insecurity, and more. Together with our health care partners, AIRnyc strives for the best health and social care outcomes for every New Yorker we serve.

Congratulations to AIRnyc CHW Yomaira Corbin on winning the NYS State Children’s Asthma Initiative Asthma Awareness Month Contest! Yomaira shared her inspiring story of helping to meet the #health and #social needs of a #NYC family impacted by #asthma. After building a strong rapport with the family, Yomaira encouraged them to participate in the NYS Healthy Homes Pilot Program. Her support and guidance helped to equip the family with valuable information and resources to help them manage their children’s asthma while maintaining a healthier home environment. The family was able to receive a number of supportive products at no cost, including hypoallergenic bedding, a HEPA vacuum, and cleaning supplies to reduce asthma triggers. Yomaira ensured the proper use of inhalers and medication, resulting in increased consistency with medication use. She also connected the family to an aftercare program and to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) who provided energy-efficient upgrades and a brand-new freezer! Yomaira happily reports that the family has reconnected with their #healthcare provider and that their children’s asthma control has greatly improved. As an Asthma Awareness Month contest winner, Yomaira will be awarded a gift package of supportive products that AIRnyc will distribute to community members, helping to transform the lives of more New Yorkers living with asthma. Many thanks to NYSERDA, the New York State Department of Health, and the American Lung Association for their continuous partnership and support! #AIRnyc #Advocacy #CommunitySupport #AsthmaManagement ?????
