Today, we recognize and celebrate the incredible individuals living with cerebral palsy (CP), a neurological condition affecting muscle tone, posture, and/or movement. Sarah Robertson, on our business Process Improvement team in the West Division, has a minor case of CP, requiring her to have more focus and give extra effort when doing everyday tasks that many take for granted, such as shaking hands, tying shoes and walking. Despite the challenges, Sarah maintains a strong sense of perseverance, reflecting on her progress and remaining committed to overcoming obstacles. Sarah’s message is one of kindness and understanding, reminding us that we never truly know what challenges someone else may be facing. Business Process Improvement Analyst Robin Lynskey, a 21-year Airgas employee, shares her family's experience supporting her 12-year-old niece with Spastic Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy (CP). Robin's niece displays remarkable resilience, balancing physical therapy and surgeries with a demanding softball schedule, and refuses to let her condition limit her goals. Robin speaks of her niece's strength she has witnessed, emphasizing that it's not solely about independence, but also about having the courage to ask for help and the resilience to face challenges. She encourages families dealing with CP to educate themselves about the specific type of CP their loved one has, as this knowledge can provide support that fosters independence. From Business Analyst to Central Division President—Monica Melve De La Garza's 25-year journey at Airgas is a testament to dedication and growth! Monica's Airgas journey began as a Business Analyst in Corpus Christi, TX, and she steadily progressed through roles including Assistant Controller, Region CFO, and VP of Finance for the Southwest Region. She then served as Division CFO for the North Division in Cleveland before returning to the Southwest as Region President. In 2024, she was named Central Division President, where she leads all aspects of the business, including Safety, Sales, Operations, Human Resources, and Finance.
